Bollywood, some real bad news for you! Acting legend and theatre veteran Shashi Kapoor passed away some time back, He was 79. Shashi Kapoor had acted over 175 movies, in both Indian and international arena. The legend was admitted at the Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai, yesterday reportedly for chest infection, where he breathed his last.
Shashi Kapoor was the youngest son of the late Prithviraj Kapoor, and the brother of screen legends Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor. Though his elder brothers were known for their mainstream cinema, Shashi Kapoor was never averse to be a part of parallel cinema movement, and is often considered an auteur in the movement. While his most memorable mainstream roles were in movies like Deewar, Namak Halal, Heeralal Pannalal, Kabhi Kabhie etc, he was also known acting in British and American films, notably Merchant Ivory productions, such as The Householder, Shakespeare Wallah, Bombay Talkie and Heat and Dust.
