What’s open on Good Friday in Perth 2018

IF you’re looking for a spot to relax and indulge on Good Friday, you’re in luck – there’s a long list of Perth venues open.
Gone are the days when it was forbidden to trade on the holy day. Nowadays, if your venue has the right licensing, it’s a choice and many cafes, restaurants, pubs and ice creameries have decided to take up the opportunity.
You can even go to the races, the Autumn Ascot Racing Carnival begins on Friday and it’s free entry. There’ll be bars, free Easter eggs, plenty of food trucks, and even pony rides for the kids.
If it is pub grub and craft beer you’re after there’s a new player in town that’s raring to go.
Blasta Brewing Company opened its doors in Burswood three weeks ago and has some tempting Easter specials to kick off your long weekend.

The Hot Cross Rum cocktail at Blasta Brewery.

Managing director Steven Russell said he decided to open the micro-brewery from 12pm to 10pm to give people a new option.
“I think a lot of people, because they’re off work on the long weekend, would like to go out and enjoy themselves,” he said.
“Not everyone has got the luxury to travel down to Margaret River and places like that so I thought it would be good to be open.”
Mr Russell said his award winning beers and beer inspired cocktails would be pouring from 12pm - with food - and the restaurant had introduced a brand new fish dish especially for Friday.
“We’ve got crispy skin cone bay barramundi, with charred corn and capsicum salsa and herb olive cous cous with dill oil and lime,” he said.
For the sweet tooths, there’s a special Easter cocktail – the Hot Cross Rum.
"It’s a hot cross bun twist on a classic Alexander cocktail, with fruit infused rum, spiced maple syrup and luscious double cream, a cacao rim and it’s finished off with a Creme Egg,” Mr Russell said.
He said the venue even had a huge sand pit with toys to keep the kids entertained.
“It’s a nice family friendly atmosphere,” Mr Russell said.
“I want everyone who leaves our venue to be happy with the quality and happy with the venue.”
And if you’re wondering - the micro brewery’s name means delicious in Scottish Gaelic.
Down in Fremantle, Little Creatures Brewery is preparing for a bumper crowd coming through from the International Street Arts Festival on the weekend.
To celebrate the festival’s 20th Anniversary the brewery will also have a pop up called the Seraphim Bar, allowing for more people to eat, drink and enjoy the entertainment.
Around 2000 people are expected through the doors on Friday – with 5000 going through on a usual weekend.
There are some limitations to Good Friday of course…
If you want an alcoholic beverage at a restaurant or pub you have to wait until 12pm and order a meal to go along with it.
If you want to kick off the weekend with a big night out nightclubs are allowed to trade on Thursday night until 3am on Good Friday – but won’t open again until Saturday night.
Hotels, taverns and small bars have to close at midnight on Thursday. They can open on Good Friday between 12 midday and 10pm, once again if alcohol is served with a meal.
And Crown or 'the cas' will also close its doors from 3am Friday and will reopen at 10pm.
As you probably already know…the ‘bottle-o’ won’t be open so stock up!
Oh…and you can’t eat red meat. Well, I’ll leave that one up to you!
