India coach Ravi
Shastri was upbeat and delighted after Virat Kohli's men crushed England by 203
runs in the third Test at Trent Bridge to make it 2-1 in the five-Test series.
Shastri, who had said there were no negative bones in the team before the Trent
Bridge Test, said he had meant every word he uttered.
Shastri, exuberant
after India's seventh Test victory in England, also said this side has the
potential to become the best travelling side in the world. India had been in
sensational form at home, winning Test series against South Africa, New Zealand,
England, Bangladesh, Australia and Sri Lanka.
However, the biggest
challenge for Kohli's team was how they would fare overseas. Four years ago,
India were hammered 1-3 in England. They travelled to Australia after and were
defeated 2-0.
Earlier this year,
South Africa defeated India 2-1. And in the first two Tests of the ongoing
series, India lost at Edgbaston and Lord's. Those defeats and the repeated
failures of the batsmen raised questions on the team's ability to win outside
their comfort zone.
