Every year during Barkrid, most of the places in Uttar Pradesh witnessed large scale animal sacrifice in public places which caused great agony to many people. Despite many requests to sacrifice animals only in private places, many people deliberately chose to cut animals in public. This caused huge inconvenience to commuters and lead to unhygienic conditions in the city.
In order to avoid the mess, the Yogi government has passed an order putting restrictions on animal sacrifice in public places. The CM said that all sacrifices will have to be made only in the assigned places and not in public. In an high level meeting chaired by the UP CM the decision to ban cow slaughter was also taken. In order to keep a check on communal violence and law and order under control, the UP government has asked the District administration to ensure that no cow is slaughtered during Bakrid. Since the Kanwar Yatra is also taking place at the same time, the UP CM anticipated the possible communal violence that may spark if the religious sentiment of any religion in hurt.
CM said that the current month of Shravan is going on, in which Kanwad yatra is going on. In view of Eid-ul-Azha, the police should remain vigilant so that no unpleasant incidents happen. Keeping in mind the sensitive zones and places, he instructed the cops to be prepared. The Chief Minister ordered all the senior officials to conduct patrolling in sensitive areas and visit the respective districts. The CM also passed instruction to people that meat will have to be refrigerated within 2 hours after slaughter in order prevent contamination.
Keeping in mind the communal riots, The Islamic seminary Darul Uloom, Deoband, has appealed to Muslims not to sacrifice prohibited animals on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid). Darul Uloom has released a booklet containing religious diktats pertaining to sacrifice of animals on the occasion of Bakrid, which would be celebrated on Thursday. ”The Muslims, while celebrating Eid-ul-Azha, must take into consideration the feeling of other countrymen” said the organisation. Seems like UP is now heading towards a cleaner Eid unlike before and the credit should definitely go to Yogi Adityanath for taking up a tough initiative.
