Should the “Rajiv Gandhi” Khel Ratna award be renamed as “Dhyan Chand” Khel Ratna Award?

The art of hijacking can be best learnt from Congress party. From colleges to government schemes, all are named after the Gandhi family. Luckily, they didn’t name the public toilets after their name.
Jawahar Lal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi are three names that are attached to almost all the schemes in India. If Congress comes to power in future, then we can expect the names of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi too.
Khel Ratna is the highest sporting event given in India. Till date, these awards have been received by legends like Vishwanathan Anand, Sachin Tendulkar, Dhanraj Pillay, Mary Kom and many more. But what is disappointing is that, even this award is named after Rajiv Gandhi and is officially known as Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in Sports and Games.
Why can’t the Khel Ratna be named after Rajiv Gandhi?
The value of a particular award will increase many folds if it is named after a man from that particular field. But what has Congress done? Just to carve its dynasty politics in the minds of Indians, it named the Khel Ratna after Rajiv Gandhi.
This is the biggest injustice done to the Indian Hockey Legend Dhyan Chand. But did you know Hitler was so impressed by Dhyan Chand’s wizardry with the stick that he offered the Indian a chance to move to Germany and the post of Colonel in his army. But patriotic Dhyan Chand had denied this offer.
Dhyan Chand had joined Indian Army when he was 16 years old and soon he showed interest in hockey at night time after his duty. Rest is all history as India got one of the finest players in the name of Dhyan Chand.
It was due to him and his team, India’s name was shining everywhere around the world. In India, he is often referred to as ‘Hockey ka Jaadugar’ (Magician of the game of Hockey).
So isn’t it an insult done to Dhyan Chand by not naming Khel Ratna after him? Does Rajiv Gandhi have more qualifications than Dhyan Chand?
It was due to Dhyan Chand and team, India won gold medals in Olympics in the year 1928, 1932 and 1936. But the contributions of Rajiv Gandhi are Bofors and Bhopal Gas Tragedy that killed around 20,000 people.
So isn’t it appropriate to replace Rajiv Gandhi’s name with Dhyan Chand’s?
