In a big setback to the Congress party, Indian Air Force Chief backs Modi Government on Rafale Deal

The opposition has been once again slammed on their false allegations against PM Modi Government on Rafale Deal by Indian Air force Chief. IAF Chief Birender Singh Dhanoa has come in support of Government. He has thrown light not only on the aircraft but also the deal and specifically, on the emergency acquisition of two squadrons.
AIF Chief stated that this deal was locked keeping in view the security of nation and the depleting number of aircrafts. The chief explained how India is facing grave threat from its nuclear neighboring nation China and Pakistan as both the nations are not sitting idle and significantly modernising their air force. He said that no other country is at such risk as India. He stated that over the past decade, China has significantly enhanced its deployment in Tibet, and has the capability to mobilise its strength along the border at short notice.Pakistan has 30 squadron and is upgrading F16s. China is also developing 5 gen fighters.
The chief further said currently the IAF has 31 fighter squadrons against the authorised strength of 42—each squadron comprises 16 to 18 aircraft. Even if we get all 42 still we are far behind them.We need more to maintain the balance and be battle ready.  Intentions of our adversaries cannot change overnight. So we need to match force level of adversaries to fight the two fronts.
The chief further added that inter-govt agreement for emergency acquisition of fighter aircraft like in the case of Rafale was not a first even. Earlier also similar purchases have been made. In the past, in 1980s two squadrons of MIG 23 from France in 1985 and of Mirage 2000 fighter jets were bought under the same umbrella to meet demands of an emergency. This time however emergency purchases involved two squadrons each. The chief by his response silenced all those political critics who have argued ‘why only two squadrons?
The IAF chief also brushed aside the claims made by leaders like Arun Shourie, Yashwant Sinha and Prashant Bhushan on the IAF’s morale going down because of the political controversy around the Rafale deal. He said: ‘Morale isn’t down. It doesn’t come down on such small issues.’

Few days ago the Indian Air Force (IAF) has also dismissed the Congress chief allegation that the plane under the deal between France and the NDA government of India is overpriced. The IAF said the price of the Modi government’s planes is lower that what was being negotiated for by the Congress regime.
Those who are claiming that the deal is overpriced they are misinformed and not aware of the facts that are known to the Air Force as we are part of the contract negotiation with the French.Air chief marshall said that whatever is being alleged  doesn’t matches up with facts at all.
The chief made it very clear all the aspects of deal. The deal was made keeping in view the need to enhance IAF’s capability and security of country. This is a big blow to Congress President Rahul Gandhi and opposition who just t target PM Modi is raising this issue again and again and laying false allegations on Government. For their political benefits they are putting the nation’s security at stake
By providing the and S-400, the government is strengthening the Indian Air Force to counter the short falls of our depleting numbers: Birender Singh Dhanoa, Air Force Chief in Delhi
What we do not have are the numbers, against a sanctioned strength of 42 squadrons, we are down to 31. Even when we do have 42 squadrons, we will be below the combined numbers of two of our regional adversaries:Air Force Chief Birender Singh Dhanoa in Delhi
