Under the ' 48 months of transforming India' campaign, The Ministry of Home Affairs reported on a rapid decline in Insurgencies in the North East. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh declared that North East has not only be 'managed' but 'resolved' moving towards permanent solution in eliminating insurgencies in Nagaland, Assam, and Manipur.
According to statistics provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2013-14 under the UPA government 1129 insurgents were reported in the North East which reduced to 308 in 2017-18.
In the substantial intervention by MHA Nagaland witnessed a decline of 67% in insurgency, incidents have reportedly reduced from 58 in 2016 to 19 in 2017. 56% decline has also been reported from Assam and occurrence witnessing a fall from 75 in 2016 to 33 in 2017. Similarly, Manipur being a hub of militant activities witnessed a fall of 26% with incidents reducing from 233 in 2016 to 165 in 2017.
Under the grants approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs surrendered militants compensation increased from 1 lakh to 4 lakhs. Civilian compensation increased from 1lakh to 2 lakhs and compensation in case of death of police personnel increased from 3lakhs to 20 lakhs.
MHA also strives for women empowerment and women safety, in regard to the same the ministry increased 33% reservation for women in Constable Level in CRPF and CISF, 14-15% reservation in SSB, BSF and ITBP. It also formulated the constitution of India's first all women SWAT team.
