Shamelss Pakistan uses Fake image in Postage stamp….Will UN remain asleep or take action?

Here comes Pakistan making Headlines yet again, of course for wrong reasons! In the recent times, too many fake attempts have been made by the Pakistan to show India in low light, though none of them have been successful.

Pakistan has once again tried this attempt after their postal department published 20 ‘commemorative’ stamps titled ‘Atrocities in Indian-occupied Kashmir’, in which one of the stamps was a fake! It included one picture of Burhan Wani, a Kashmiri militant leader killed in 2016. The stamp described him as a “freedom icon”.

Led by this major controversy, A Kashmiri Pandit has sought the United Nations intervention for withdrawal of a postage stamp issued in Pakistan, alleging it had pictures of their protest to highlight human rights violations in Kashmir. The group has decided to revolt against this move and teach a right lesson to Pakistan.
In the letter to United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, the Kashmiri Pandits group maintained the picture in one of the stamps is of a protest organised by the ‘Roots in Kashmir’ at Jantar Mantar, some 5 years ago, said Amit Raina, the coordinator of the group.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, an organisation founded by a Kashmiri Pandit group that goes by the name ‘Roots in Kashmir’ (RIK) claimed that one of the stamps issued had an image from their protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi in 2014.
“While the issuance of postage stamps was a malicious attempt to raise the bogey of Kashmir, we have found one stamp from a protest carried by us to protest against the forced exodus and exile of Kashmiri Pandits, the perpetrators of which are terrorists and subversives supported by Pakistan,” RIK said in the letter dated October 1.
Pakistan adds insult to injury by using picture of RIK PROTESTORS AGAINST PAK TERROR to propogate fake narrative of human rights violation by India. The real violation is done by Pakistan itself by ensuring the ethnic cleansing of the aborigines of Kashmir; the Kashmiri Pandits
Calling out Pakistan for the concocted information, the group said the stamps were a “spiteful attempt at denying the victims of ethnic cleansing a right to protest by appropriating symbols of protest”.
While one of the stamps glorified Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani, who was killed by Indian security forces in 2016 in Jammu and Kashmir, the new revelation corroborates the duplicity on the part of the Imran Khan government in Pakistan in the way they deal with cross-border terrorism.
The Roots in Kashmir has urged the UN to intervene in the matter and demand Pakistan to withdraw the stamps. They have also sought for a formal apology from Pakistan, addressed to the Kashmiri community, for the crimes inflicted on them and the false representation they have resorted to by using the image.
