BSF APPREHENDED ONE INDIAN FICN RACKETEER ALONGWITH FICN OF FACE VALUE OF Rs. 2,00,000/- OF 2000 DENOMINATION IN GENERAL AREA OF KHUMBHIRA MARKET UNDER 24 BN BSF OF SECTOR MALDA


1. Keeping in view the vulnerability of Border from smuggling point of view, Shri P S R Anjaneyulu, IPS, Inspector General BSF South Bengal Frontier has issued operational guidelines to further strengthen Border domination so as to effectively check the menace of smuggling and other activities of Anti National Elements on South Bengal Border with Bangladesh. Accordingly field Commanders ensure implementation of these instructions to maintain extra vigil on border to thwart the attempts of smugglers / Anti -National Elements. Tactical operations are being mounted to foil the attempts of the smugglers.

2. On 25.12.2017, information was received regarding carrying/circulation of FICN in the general area of Dhulian ghat (ferry point) under Malda Sector. The received information was further developed and a special operation was planned and carried out by the troops of SHQ BSF Malda and 24 BN BSF. Accordingly the special ambushes were laid on suspected places/routes. At about 1700 hrs, the BSF party near Hazil Tula near Nepal hatt towards Dhulian ghat (Ferry point) observed one suspected person coming through link road Nepal Hatt towards Dhulian Ghat.  The ambush party asked him to stop but he tried to escape. However BSF party managed to apprehend him.  On search of the apprehended person, the party recovered 01 bundle of new Currency notes of Rs 2000 denomination suspected to be FICN from his possession which was kept in side his under garment. On opening of the bundle, new Currency Notes containing notes of Rs.2000 denomination suspected to be FICN of face value of Rs.2,00,000/- in denomination of Rs.2000x100 notes were found. Paper quality & Security features of seized FICN are same as per previously seized FICN notes of Rs.2000 by BSF South Bengal Frontier. On preliminary questioning he revealed his identity as Bishnu Pada Biswas (47 yrs), S/o late Jatin Biswas, Vill+ PO Par Devnapur, PS - Baishnabnagar, Distt- Malda (WB). The apprehended person and seized FICN have been handed over to PS  Baishnavnagar for further legal action.
3. During this year, BSF South Bengal Frontier has seized FICN of face value of Rs.55,88,000/- and has apprehended 09 FICN Racketeers.
