How Nehru and gang cheated and humiliated Maharaja Jai Singh of J&K !

After reading this, you will come to know how Maharaja Jai Singh was systematically cheated, insulted by Nehru and was also denied his right. Nehru is not what our history books teach and Maharaja Jai Singh is not what our history books say.  Long before freedom was obtained, Maharaja Hari Singh had decided to merge with India. This can be found in his letter written to President of India Rajendra Prasad on 16 or 17 August 1952. But how was he treated him by our Nehru brigade? Well, the letter which is full of anguish, Maharaja Jai Singh described the royal (like how Nehru did to Netaji Bose) treatment received by Nehru.  Betrayal by Nehru is pin to pin expressed by Jai Singh in his around 9000 words letter. The main role in betrayal of trust is carried on by Chacha Nehru and Sheikh Abdullah. But did you ever hear about this letter, did any historians mentioned about this?

That is called systematically denying the truth from the people. Heroes are made villains and villains are worshipped.  Raja Jai Singh wrote this letter from Poona as he was in exile; he was exiled for being pro-national. He writes that the British started to show their dominance by increasing their military power from the moment he wore the crown. This state had its own importance and Raja had tried to suppress the British in this region so he had to face regular troubles from the British.  The worst part is that the Raja didn’t discriminate among religion. This noble character was rewarded by raising a slogan “Down with Hindu Raj” and “Islam in Danger” in 1931. Today we can clearly see to what extent Islam is in danger. This religious rebel was carried on by persons like Chaudary Ghulam Abbas and Maulvi Yusuf Shah and they later on received the cooperation of Congress by calling themselves as National Conference.

Mountbatten, who was keen observer of these developments, asked Raja to join Pakistan in 1947 as India didn’t show any enthusiasm.  Mehr Chand Mahajan was Prime Minister of J&K during 1947 and played a role in the accession of the state to India. He was the one who turned down the offer of district Lahore and instead annexed district Gurdaspur to India. Mehr Chand was appointed the Prime Minister by Hari Singh in Sept 1947 when he was asked to do so. Mehr Chand was briefed by Sardar and was promised to offer full cooperation. But Patel didn’t act as he promised, on October 21,1947 he wrote to Mehr Chand that Sheikh Abdullah would skilfully help the state but he just needs power. Another letter from Nehru came which said that a provincial government must be formed and it must be headed by Abdullah and mentions him that he is the most popular person in Kashmir. Nehru also desired to withhold accession to India till such interim government was installed in the state.  Nehru wasn’t getting sound sleep as Abdullah wasn’t in power. So Nehru frequently pressurised Maharaja Hari Singh on this.

Another hilarious thing is on November 9, 1947, N Gopalaswami Ayyangar, Minister without Portfolio demanded immediate changes in the State’s constitutional and administrative set up and sent a draft Proclamation approved by Abdullah, for Hari Singh to issue. Ayyangar on March 1, 1948 again stressed that Abdullah was essential to India’s case in the Security Council. Nehru did some background work with Abdullah and on March 5, 1948 the Maharaja issued Proclamation referred to in Article 370 of the Indian Constitution.  After this, the Maharaja was never treated with respect. He was forced to quit the state from March 1948 to April 1949. Hari Singh expressed his helplessness saying that Abdullah and gang totally took the state under their control and ignored the King. He even mentioned that Abdullah got permission of the government for his every demand. Another notable incident is that Abdullah shamelessly objected Maharaja and his wife from organising state tour. Abdullah got insecure when the Maharaja started to interact with the people. So finally Maharaja was exiled from the state.  Nehru made it a habit to insult Maharaja time and again. He once again wrote a letter to the Maharaja which had no basic manners stating that, Maharaja ran away to Jammu when the invasion began from Pakistan. But the reality is that he left the state on the request of VP Menon. Let us remind Chacha Nehru that it was Sheikh Abdullah who cowardly fled to Delhi from Srinagar and didn’t come back until Indian Army landed in Srinagar. Wah! Nehru, the way you treated the Maharaja was really brutal.  Maharaja was urged to set up the Constituent Assembly for the State by Vishnu Sahay in 1950 as indicated in the March 1948 Proclamation, it was demanded by the National Conference. A draft was sent to Maharaja for his views. But Maharaja objected this and said that this is not the manner in which the Constituent Assembly must be set up. Maharaja had the right to put into effect the official Proclamation and not the Regent (Yuvraj). But ultimately the Maharaja was forced to set up the Constituent Assembly. Maharaja had assessed the corrupt intensions of Nehru and Abdullah. So he wrote a letter to the president saying that these both are using the article 370 according to their requirements.

Maharaja also stated that article specifically refers to Maharaja’s Proclamation on March 5,1948. The law which governs the state of Jammu and Kashmir can be only changed after new constitution is framed and it must be not only approved by the constituent assembly of the state but also the King and the President of India. But Nehru said Yuvraj ( who is acting only a Regent) to become the elected Head of State with immediate effect. It was even before the state constitution was framed Nehru alone approved it. Thus deposed the king and the dynasty. Maharaja supported and respected all the suggestions (it looked like orders) from Nehru, Patel, Gopalaswami and allowed Abdullah take control over the state but at last he was humiliated, thrown out of the state and denied all the facilities.  Maharaja concluded his letter saying, “Only history and posterity will be able to do justice to our respective points of view”. Maharaja wasn’t respected when he was living, at least let us try to bring out the truth front of people and do justice to him.
