Aseman Airlines plane crash kills 66 in central Iran



A passenger plane crashed in Iran, killing all 66 riders, including six crew. The plane crashed today in the mountainous region of Semirom, Ispahan, at 8:00 am today (Sunday). It is believed that the plane crashed due to bad weather.
The plane was made by ASEAN company jointly owned by France and Italy, and it was going to Mehshabad Airport in Tehran's southwestern city of Yasuz. The aircraft was separated from the radar after 50 minutes of flying. Rescue workers were rushed to the helicopter after getting the news of the accident, but the helicopter could not land due to dense fog and rain. Rescuers were later sent there by road.
Iranian emergency department spokesman Mujtaba Khalidi said the rescue workers had already reached the spot and tried to rescue the bodies of the climbers. But the rescue workers did not find the plane yet. Rescue operations continued after the bad weather.
The plane crashed 20 kilometers away from the city of Yassuz. Distance from Tehran to Yasuz city of the capital is 500 kilometers.

Meanwhile, Iran's rescue and rescue agency Red Crescent chief, Monteja Salimi, said 20 rescue teams were sent from three provinces to the accident site. In addition, rescue helicopters have been kept in rigorous condition. But rescue operations are being hampered due to bad weather.
