Bengal's Panchayat election from May 1st

Own correspondent: - Panchayat vote is to be held in the state from the first day of May, announced the Chief Election Commissioner of the state in a press conference. He said that Panchayat polls will be held in three phases on 1st, 3rd and 5th of May in 20 districts in Bengal. Result will be estimated on 8th May.


In the first phase, i.e., on May 1 votes will be held in districts of Nadia, North and South 24 parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, West Burdwan, Eastern Burdwan, Purulia, Bankura, Jhargram, West and East Midnapore. The second phase will be on May 3 in Murshidabad and Birbhum. The third phase will be held on 5th May in six districts of North Bengal, Jalpaiguri, Coch Bihar, North and South Dinajpur. On April 2, the notification for Panchayat voting will be issued. Soon after the announcement of the day of voting election's Code of Conduct have started in the state. Elections in a total of 48,656 gram panchayats, 9217 panchayat community and 825 district councils of 20 districts will be held together. Submission of nomination papers will be started from April 2 till 9th April.
