Rabindra Bharati University won the Inter-University T 20 tournament 2017-18 organised by University of Kalyani at Bengal Cricket Academy ground

Inter-University T 20 tournament 2017-18 has been organized by University of Kalyani at Bengal Cricket Academy ground, Kalyani. The tournament started on 28th March 2018 and the final match held on 31st March 2018. In the inaugural program Registrar Dr Debanshu Roy and Dr. Madhab Chandra Ghosh, Dean of Student’s Welfare of University of Kalyani were present and Mr. Anu Dutta, Assistant Secretary, Cricket Association of Bengal was also present there.

On first day Match no. 1 Calcutta University won by 98 runs against Viswa Bharati University. (C.U.-160/6 and Viswa Bharati – 62/10). Man of the match was Tanmoy Kundu (100 runs in 63 balls and 2-4-4) of Calcutta University.

Later on first day Match no. 2 University of Kalyani won by 7 wickets against Tech. St. Gymkhana.(Tech st. Gym.-81/10 and K.U.-84/3). Man of the match was Suprio Debnath (4-20-4) of University of Kalyani.

On second day 29th March, Match no. 3 Jadavpur University won by 21 runs against Rabindra Varati University (R.B.U -131/9 and J.U.-110/6). Man of the match was Tapendu Mandal (32 runs of 32 balls and 4-11-1) of R.B.U.

Later on second day Match no.4 North Bengal University won by 3 runs against Budwan University (N.B.U.-135/8 and B.U.-132/10). Man of the match was Samrat Hossain (4-19-3) of N.B.U.

Ist semifinal match:
Susanta Das, Coach University of Kalyani said, “Our boys showed a magnificient performance till the semifinal match when we were defeated by the Calcutta University by 12 run after a hurt-stopping fight.”


2nd semifinal match won by Rabindra Bharati University.

 Dr. Madhab Chandra Ghosh, Dean of Student’s Welfare of University of Kalyani, told this correspondent, “Inter-University T 20 tournament 2017-18 is being organized by University of Kalyani at Bengal Cricket Academy ground, Kalyani the final match of the T 20 tournament between Calcutta University and Rabindra Varati University held at our University’s at Bengal Cricket Academy ground.”

Dr. Susanta Sarkar, Assistant Professor, University of Kalyani and organizing Secretary of Inter-University Twenty-20 Tournament said, "We successfully organised Inter-University Twenty-20 Tournament. We are giving heartiest thanks to The Cricket Association of Bengal and specially Mr. Sourav Ganguly, Honourable President, CAB."

The final match of Inter-University T-20 Cricket between Calcutta University and Rabindra Bharati University held on 31st March 2018 at CAB, Bengal Cricket Academy, Kalyani. University of Calcutta score 115/10 in 20 over and Rabindra Bharati University 118/5 in 19.3 Over and Rabindra Bharati became champion by 5 Wickets and Man of the match was Abir Das (58 runs from 55 balls) of Rabindra Bharati University.

Dr. Susanta Sarkar and Mr Shubhendu Bauli joint Organising Secretary also said that,"University of Kalyani also going to organise Inter-college Cricket Tournament on and from 16th April 2018."

Dr. Sudarshan Biswas and Arijit Chatterjee both are CAB joint coordinator, Dr. Aminul Hoque, Sports Officer of Calcutta University, Faruque Ahamed Assistant Director, DODL, University of Kalyani, Chiranjib Mondal, in-charge Bengal Cricket Academy, CAB, Kalyani were also present in the prize distribution ceremony.

Ghayasuddin Khan, coach of R.B.U. said that," hard work by the players over the year came out today through their performance. They have been performing as guided by the coach and supporting staffs."
