Own correspondent: - Two days ago a man named Shekhar Debnath killed his wife and daughter. Later seeing police tried to commite suicide. People of Machlandpur Bisharati in the Habara police station area of North 24 Parganas witnessed the sensational incidents. The murderer have been arrested. The dead body of the wife and daughter found plastics wrapped under the bed in the house. Police claimed preliminary investigation estimates that there was a long-standing plan of murdering. Neighbours hadn't seen the 15-year old girl, Puja and her mother Mithu Debnath after the secondary examination of Saturday.
Police arrested Shekhar Debnath. During interrogation Shekhar accepted his act of murder. According to local sources he is completely bankrupt and drowning in debt. Police is investigating if this is the reason of killing them or not.
Police sources said Shekhar Debnath had behaved absolutely normal after killing his wife and daughter, drank alcohol, ate Biriyani and went to local vegetable market. Even had a argument with the panchayat members about the road in front of his house. Police said, after brutally killing the two, to ensure their death he handed them with a cloth around their neck. The relatives complained that if they wanted to talk to his wife and daughter, he misbehaved with them.
