The majority of the local people complains of the two main culprits behind this Gosthi Community clash to have connections with the TMC party. Though the TMC leaders of the area haven't commented on this regard. Ranigunj police has primarily logged complains against 51 person to be involved in the Gosthi clash incident. Of this 51 the list is being lead by Billy aka Ishtekhap Khan, local TMC leader. Followed by Sunny aka Shahid Sheikh, "disciple" of Billy. According to the Asansol- Durgapur Commissionerate's sources, this two are the main culprits of that collision, they were the first to attack on the Ramnavami day, says the locals. Since that incident 19 have been arrested, were hiding in the Kulti area.
Billy was the president of TMC's Block as well as Ward committee. Complains of spreading violence was also made earlier against Billy. But the TMC still accepted him to keep a strong hold over the area. Infact Billy was also supposed to be very close to the former MLA and former Council's of TMC. Therefore because of ruler intimateity police was unable to take any step against Billy. Like Billy Sunny was also very close go the TMC party, says the sources.On the occasion of Ramnabir rally, the unrest broke out in the Rajarbandh area of Raniganj. At the time of the procession, bricks were thrown targeting the procession. After this, clashes broke out in the area. Houses, shops, police cars were set on fire. Bombs were hurled on police when they went to the scene. The commissionerate's DC Arindam Dutta Chowdhury was seriously injured.
