Leopard entered in locality, Adhai mile of Bhiktinagar police station in Siliguri. This have created acute panic in the area. Forest department and police personnel have been deployed there. The animal was seen first near a market at Sevak road on Wednesday night and since then has been seen there many a times but has not been caught yet. The animal was roaming beside a shopping mall. Spreading of this news has raised panic in that busy market area. According to the locals the leopard was seen roaming on the rooftops of some warehouses in the market. Being informed of the incident police and forest department officials had reached the area.
Search for this animal is going on. Concerning of the security of the locals, section 144 has been issued there. According to the forest department this animal has came from Baikanthapore wildlife. DFO of Silliguri Uma Rani said, measures is beeing taken to send the leopard back to its forest if necessary sleeping medicines will be used to trape it in cage and taken back to the forest.
