Real Madrid and Barcelona have kind of dominated
European football for best part of last 15 years and between them they have won
9 champions league titles since 2002. Today we take a look at some of the most
successful clubs in terms of major honors. Since the top 5 European leagues are
widely considered to be most competitive we only take a look at domestic titles
won in major European countries.
We have previously wrote a piece on Most successful English and
Spanish clubs, but today we take a look at top clubs from all around Europe and
rank the top teams in terms of major trophies won. There are some surprising
teams in the list. Before we jump to ranking table, we need to explain a few
things.
Major Trophies: The most important trophy for every team is
ofcourse the division 1 title in their respective countries and Champions
League/European Cup is the ultimate price for any European team so we give 10
points each to division 1 title and the Champions League. Europa League/UEFA
Cup and domestic cup competitions get 5 points each. Some international
trophies like FIFA Club world cup/intercontinental cup get 5 points each. We
are not going to include one-off match competitions such as Charity Shield or
Super Cups etc.

list below is comprised of clubs with atleast 2 or more European titles.
This was necessary to breakdown the top clubs from Europe which
otherwise impossible as number of teams has dominated in their domestic front
without winning in Europe.
