36 kids rescued from Madrasa after complaints of sexual harassment surfaces!

In a shameful development, it is being reported that 36 kids have been sexually harassed in a madrasa in Pune’s Katraj. The incident came to light when two children were spotted in the Pune Railway station by police who had escaped from the Madrasa.
When the police enquired the kids, they came to know about a Madrasa called Jamia Amubhuja Darul Yatama situated in RK colony, Katraj Kondhwa which was involved in sexually abusing children. The kids also revealed that there were many people in the age group of 5 to 15 years who were facing harassment in the hands of management.
The police immediately informed an NGO named ‘Saathi’ that works towards child rescue and rehabilitation and raided the madrasa where they have rescued 36 children of all age groups. The police also arrested the maulana who was in charge of the Madrasa in cases of sexual harassment. An FIR has been registered against him under Juvenile Justice and POCSO Act.
When further investigation was done, they found that the Madrasa was not registered and was apparently running it illegally. The kids said that the Maulana always abused them, asked them to remove their dress and would touch them appropriately all over. The kids complained that they felt very uncomfortable when the Maulana touched them but they were warned against revealing this to anyone.
It is a shame that the incidents of sexual abuse have increased lately in many Madrasas which has raised concern of the Children’s well being. The government needs to take firm action against such Madrasa who in the name of religion are misusing their liberty. Seems like this is turning out to be a mafia chain which is using children for their benefit.
