It is apparent that the Modi government is a master on how to turn an adverse situation on their side and then trap their rivals in it. The united opposition led by Rahul Gandhi decided to go for a no confidence motion against the Modi government, though it was initiated by the TDP.
But now it is getting clearer that the opposition parties, especially the Congress will regret after today’s parliament session. At present the majority mark is 267 as 11 seats are vacant and the BJP will easily and confidently cross the majority.
What was decided as a litmus test to PM Modi has now become an “Agni Pareeksha” to the Congress. Soon after this test, BJP will get a huge ammunition against their rivals until the 2019 elections.
Time allotted for parties to speak on no-confidence motion in parliament:
- BJP: 3 hours and 33 minutes
- Congress: 38 minutes
- Telugu Desam Party: 13 minutes
- AIADMK: 29 minutes
- Trinamool Congress: 27 minutes
- Biju Janata Dal: 15 minutes
- Telangana Rashtra Samithi: 9 minutes
So the UPA will get around two hours whereas the BJP will be having just over three and a half hours. It is evident that India is eagerly watching today’s monsoon session as crores of people are glued up to their television sets just for two things.
Not if Modi governments crosses the majority mark but because to listen to the speech of two people. Those are PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi had once said “Government is running away from the debate, if they allow me to speak in parliament, then you will see what an earthquake will occur”.
But he never succeeded to speak boldly when PM Modi was in the house, that’s why India never witnessed the an earthquake. But now it is interesting to see how will Rahul Gandhi speak in today’s session, as it might end up his own party in trouble.
BJP IT head Amit Malviya stated “The last few times Rahul Gandhi spoke in Parliament, it was ‘memorable’… Today will be another day!” with the hashtag “BhookampAaneWalaHai”.
Here are few more tweets on how the Indians are waiting for Rahul Gandhi’s speech in the parliament!
BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje mocked the opposition stating “Opposition say they have the numbers. Have they forgotten how to count? You don’t have to disrespect and insult peoples mandate simply to hold your own ground. If you do, that shows how shaky your own position is…..”.
It is also said that PM Modi led BJP will make an all out attack at the opposition parties, and completely trap the Congress led Opposition. Earlier today Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal (BJD) walked out from today’s debate. It was also reported that Shiv Sena MPs will not attend Lok Sabha today.
Before entering the parliament, PM Modi had called a meeting with five top BJP leaders — party president Amit Shah and ministers Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari and Ananth Kumar.
Now the only thing which is remaining is how the Modi government will use this no confidence motion to corner the Congress party.
