Few days ago the Home Ministry has taken various new measures to strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security in the wake up of recent death threats being received by the PM. The Home Ministry drafted a new set of rules and also warned all the states, sending an alert about an “all-time high” unknown threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sensing the seriousness of death threats the Home Ministry also advised PM Modi to cut down on road shows as planned routes present a bigger threat because this is during the road shows that Prime Minister comes up in close proximity with thousands of people. Special instructions was given to the close protection team (CPT) around the Prime Minister, which always moves with the PM that no one can be in close proximity of the PM if not needed.
But do you know what PM Modi feels about this? Do you know what his reaction was? You will love PM Modi even more, when you will come to know what he said when he was advised to cut down road shows. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “He is not a Shahenshah or an imperious ruler” who will be unaffected by the warmth of people.
PM Modi further expressing his feelings said that people are the real source of his power. He gains strength from his interaction with the public and he cannot remain seated in his car when he sees a lot of people out on the streets just to greet and welcome him.
The prime minister was answering a question on apprehension in the minds of his well-wishers about his personal security during road shows.
The Home Ministry’s alert came days after Pune police claimed that it recovered a letter by an alleged Maoist revealed a plot to assassinate him in the same way as Rajiv Gandhi during his roadshows.
The new security measures also bar anyone from going too close to PM Narendra Modi, not even ministers and officers. Yes!! Ministers also can go near to Prime Minister after they undergo screening and are cleared by the Special Protection Group (SPG), which is in charge of protecting the Prime Minister.
“Whenever I am travelling, I see that a lot of people, from all age groups and sections of society, are out on the streets to greet me and welcome me. I can’t just remain seated in my car, aloof from their display of affection and care. That is why I invariably get down and greet, interact with people as much as I can,” he said in an interview to Swarajya, an online magazine.Apart from this, various other measures are also being taken in order to avoid any situation. Home Ministry has set up a committee to review PM’s security and it will be a continuous process. The number of tactical team commandos travelling with the PM will also be increased, public contact will be reduced and Prime Minister Modi is also requested by the officials to be little careful regarding his public engagements.
Further Security agencies are asked to be more careful while doing the Advance Security Liaison – which is done around 15 days before PM’s visit to any area. An additional security ring of paramilitary and local police will also be added to PM’s periphery security during his visits. The agencies are also especially monitoring the Kerala-based Popular Front of India (PFI), an outfit that is believed to be a front for terror groups.
This is our “Pradhan Sewak” who doesn’t feel that he is any ruler or king but an ordinary person who is elected by the people for the betterment of the nation. And who believes people are his real power and he can’t be away from them. These are the noble thoughts of our Prime Minister that gained him more respect. Salute to our Pradhan Sevak!!!
