Today we all are under the influence of Western Nations. We believe that Western Nations are the one who have blessed the world by inventing and discovering new things. When in the reality the Western nations have actually robbed the treasures of India, adopted knowledge from India and put it to practice which Indians themselves failed to realize.
Many times we have told you such stories which clearly states that our sages and scientists have done these inventions much before than any foreign scientist or nation whether it be generation of electricity by Rishi Agastya, technology of Airplanes by Rishi Bhardwaj, Fibre Optics by Narinder Singh Kapany, Super Computer Technology by P Bhatkar or Computer Programming Language by Maharishi Panani
Today I am sharing with you one such another discovery by India. In 2012, US topmost space agency NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) confirmed the presence of water on MARS. During the exploration of planet Mars, scientists have shown an ice sheet spread over miles of the planet. This is regarded as one of the breakthrough achievements which revolutionized the world of space. But you would be shocked to know that the presence of water on Mars was predicted 1500 years before this and that also by none other than India. It was Indian Sage Rishi Varaha Mihir who predicted this before NASA
Rishi Varah Mihir was born in 505 A.D. to a Brahmin family settled at Kapittha, a village near Ujjain. He was one of the only renowned Indian Astronomer, Mathematician and Astrologer whose name became a household word throughout India and it is said his near contemporaries Aryabhata and Brahmagupta even did not match with the popularity of Varaha mihira.
The most pioneering work of Rishi Varah Mihir is Pancha Siddhantika (The Five Astronomical Canons). Pancha Siddhantika is compilation of five astronomical treatises namely, the Surya Siddhanta, Romaka Siddhanta, Paulisa Siddhanta, Vasishtha Siddhanta and Paitama Siddhanta.
Out of these the Surya Siddhanta, is an astronomical treatise which explains the true motions of the luminaries. It has also explained the estimated diameters of the planets, like Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter. It mentioned the Mars diameter to be 3772 miles (that has an error within 11% of the currently accepted diameter of 4,218 miles). It also carries calculations on and about solar eclipses and lunar eclipses, its color and portion of the moon as well.
Apart from this the book gave the locations of several stars. It also had a significant coverage on kinds of time, the length of the year of gods and demons, day and night of god Brahma, the elapsed period since creation, how planets move eastwards and sidereal revolution.
Varaha mihira also predicted the presence of water on Mars. The book had a detailed description of planet Mars. He had said in his book that planet Mars has both water and iron present on its surface, which have now been revealed by NASA and ISRO. On May 25, 2014, NASA’s Curiosity Mars rover had bumped into an iron meteorite, which they name ‘Lebanon’. He was also the first to mention and explain how each planet in the solar system has been created by and centered on the sun.
Without any modern facilities like telescope or any other scientific equipment Rishi Varaha mihira has made such great discoveries. Apart from this, Rishi Varaha mihira was also the first to claim about the gravitational force. He has also contributed in the field of mathematics, ecology, hydrology, geology, domestic relations, gems, pearls and rituals.His exemplary work serves as a guide for modern scientists. Due to his skills he has also been rewarded by the King Yashodharman Vikramaditya of Malwa, who made him one of the Nine Gems of his court
We are so much trapped in the fancy western world that we are actually at par from our precious history and culture. We are blindfolded by the false claims and are passing the same to our coming generations. We need to be aware and should also make our coming generations aware of the power of India.
