Days ago the Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Derek O’Brien was seen blabbering in the Rajya Sabha against the vocal nationalists on social media. Though he didn’t have an iota of evidence against the nationalists, he kept on targeting the vocal nationalist saying that they spread hatred.
But just days after his ranting, his party chief Mamata Banerjee has stunned the Indians with her fear mongering statement. Soon after the news broke out that around 40 lakh people who are considered as illegal immigrants from Bangladesh will be deported by the Indian government as their names are not found in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) list, BJP demanded to implement such kind of move even in West Bengal.
But West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee lost her cool looking at these developments in Assam. As it is evident that her state is widely filled with illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, she even invited these immigrants to her state.
Later on, she even made a disgusting statement by saying “the NRC is being done with a political motive. We will not let this happen. They (BJP) are trying to divide the people. The situation cannot be tolerated. There will be a civil war, bloodbath in the country”.
Realizing a damage this statement could do, the BJP’s youth wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) filed a complaint at the Naharkatia police station in Dibrugarh district on 31st July.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju slammed Mamata Banerjee saying “It is the duty of the CM to maintain law & order in the state & not incite violence. Her remark on civil war is condemnable”.
What was surprising is the Congress party which supported the Rohingya Muslims also slammed the fear-mongering tactic of Mamata Banerjee. Ripun Bora, Congress Chief Assam said “Mamata Banerjee being the Chief Minister should not provoke for a civil war, we condemn this statement. It will have no impact on Assam as it is absolutely peaceful there”.
