UP CM Yogi Adityanath paid obeisance at the Ram Janmabhoomi at Ayodhya on Wednesday. Adityanath is the first UP CM to visit the place in 15 years. This comes a day after senior BJP leaders were summoned by the CBI court for allegedly conspiring to demolish the Babri Masjid. The BJP was the first party that promised to build a Ram temple at the site.
The UP CM’s visit comes 2 and a half months later after the Supreme Court suggested that the Ayodhya dispute should be resolved amicably. Earlier in the morning the UP CM visited the Hanuman Garhi, the oldest temple of Lord Hanuman. The UP CM offered prayers as per the Vedic rituals.
The chants of the supporters grew louder as the UP CM came out of the temple after offering prayers. Breaking the police cordon, people tried to reach out to the UP CM to touch his feet and seek his blessings. Yogi Aditynath is considered as a ‘Mahant’ by the people of Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi acknowledged supporters’ chants of Mahant with a nod and a smile.
This was a historic moment for the people of Ayodhya to witness a saffron clad CM Paying obeisance to Lord Ram & Lord Hanuman. As the UP CM left the Hanuman Garhi temple, youth followed the cavalcade on motorcycles.
The yogi later offered prayers at the Sarayu river, which is of great religious significance to Hindus. The UP CM said that even Muslims were in support of the Ram Mandhir. The CM also said that the 84-kosi parikrama yatra will resume soon. The Parikrama Yatra was started by the VHP in 2013, but the Akhilesh-led ‘secular’ government tried to halt its progress.
