Papua New Guinea is going to ban social media for 30 days. For a month, the false profile of Facebook will be identified and the effect of these false profiles in the country will be considered. The BBC has reported this.


Quoting the Communication Minister of Papua New Guinea, the news is that users who post pornography or fake information on Facebook will also be identified in one month. The minister indicated that the new alternative means of Facebook could launch a new communication medium.

Recently, the Facebook authorities have been subjected to severe criticism of the Cambridge Analyst scandal. Besides, it has also been criticized by the media to manage the fake news.

Only 10 percent of Papua New Guinea have access to the Internet. However, in the use of online services, the authorities of the very active country are concerned about the rules and regulations of the country.

Through a month-long ban, the government wants to analyze how Facebook is being used there. In addition to this, the ban will be imposed on Facebook to find out the violators of cyber-crime law passed in 2016.
