Now, All India Muslim Personal Law Board wants Shariat Courts in all districts of the country!

When the Triple Talaq issue was taken to the court by a Muslim lady, the AIMPLB opposed the move saying that the Triple Talaq was an internal issue of the community and they would sort it out in the Shariat court of Law. Although in a democratic country like India, there is no place for such rules which degrades and suppresses the freedom of women, this practice of Triple Talaq was being practised by many people. Thousands of Muslim women suffered because of this absurd practice which was indirectly supported by AIMPLB.
But when the matter reached the Supreme Court, the court declared that Triple Talaq was illegal which had upset AIMPLB members and many religious heads of the community who believed men were superior to women.
Now, the same AIMPLB proposes to open Shariat courts (Darul Qaza) in every districts of the country to resolves issues in line with Islamic laws. The AIMPLB believes that the matters relating to Isalm community should be sorted out in the Shariat laws and not in the general courts of the country. A senior member of the AIMPLB said that there were around 40 Shariat courts in Uttar Pradesh alone and they now intend to open such courts in all districts of the country.
He said around Rs 50,000 is spent to run one Shariat court, so they would find ways to generate revenue to set up courts all over the country. He said they will be appointing lawyers, judges and make sure common man will be aware of Shariat laws said Jilani.
The AIMPLB said that the issues like Triple Talaq, inheritance of the property will be taken up by these courts. He also said matters relating to Babri masjid and land will be taken up as they believe that the Supreme Court was delaying the case.
While most of the Islamic dominated countries have banned the Triple Talaq and Shariat laws, in India the AIMPLB wants to implement these rules which go against the values of democracy. Seems like this is nothing but an attempt to run a parallel court of justice in the country. The AIMPLB is indirectly demeaning the country’s judiciary by encouraging people to opt for Shariat laws over democracy.
In a democratic country, the law should be same and equal to all and not based on any religion. While the entire country fallows one rule, why should there be separate courts and rules for one single religion?!
